I first wrote the story when I was twenty years old, sitting on the rooftop of my old rental in Elwood. The illustrations were naive, rudimentary pencil scrawls and watercolour.
Every few years, for over three decades (so far!) I have revisited the book; story boarding, rewriting and refashioning the illustrations....
... but I never found a way to translate the magic of my visions onto paper until I discovered the French artiste, Miss Clara. Her ethereal images inspired & influenced my expression. I began to explore & experiment with digital tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Snapseed & Artrage, manipulating & layering my paintings, illustrations and photography to create the textural, multi-dimensional and illusory effects I so desired.
In homage to Miss Clara, I have used her image as Mama in my book. (with her permission of course!)
